As high speed wireless data and, increasingly, video services make more of a presence, the wireless operator's backhaul network has to scale to support those services effectively. And while it's clear that operators are tuning into the possibilities that IP/Ethernet backhaul brings, they will require a blueprint to get there.

Enter the IP/MPLS Forum and its MPLS Mobile Backhaul Initiative (MMBI). In this special Audiocast edition chronicling the CTIA Wireless show in Las Vegas, Sean Buckley, Editor in Chief of Telecommunications Magazine, talks with David Scinicrope, Vice President of the IP/MPLS Forum and senior product manager at Redback Networks.

Scinicrope discusses the following topics in this Audiocast:

• What's driving the migration from TDM to IP/Ethernet for wireless backhaul?

• What are the measurable benefits to the deployment of Ethernet solutions for backhaul applications?

• What has the IP/MPLS Forum learned while hosting its multi-vendor mobile backhaul showcase series?

• How is the MMBI laying the blueprint to handle future 4G wireless paths?

• How is the IP/MPLS Forum addressing the clock synchronization issue?
